The Board of Education governs on behalf of the citizens of Âé¶¹¹û¶³ in accordance with the authority granted to it by state law. The Board of Education is responsible for the quality and integrity of Âé¶¹¹û¶³.

The Board of Education is committed to fulfilling its responsibilities to:

  • Represent the public interest;
  • Establish policies that define the institutional mission and set prudent, ethical, and legal standards for college operations;
  • Assure the Board operates in an open, accessible, welcoming spirit, and maintains a culture that supports Âé¶¹¹û¶³'s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusions
  • Establish policies that ensure Âé¶¹¹û¶³ operates in a way that supports its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion ;
  • Hire and evaluate the President of the institution;
  • Delegate power and authority to the President to effectively lead Âé¶¹¹û¶³;
  • Assure fiscal health and stability;
  • Monitor institutional performance and educational quality;
  • Advocate and protect Âé¶¹¹û¶³;
  • Regularly review and approve the Âé¶¹¹û¶³â€™s vision, mission and core values; and
  • Evaluate the quality of educational programs and organizational performance using Âé¶¹¹û¶³â€™s vision, mission and core values.
     

Board Policies are adopted by the Âé¶¹¹û¶³ Board of Education and establish the College’s governing principles and institutional direction. These policies are reviewed by the Board at least every five years or more often as needed. Board Policies are distinct from (COPPS), which provide operational guidance and are developed through governance processes and by responsible managers.
