Today, the United States Supreme Court ruled that colleges and universities can no longer take race into consideration as a specific basis in admissions.
"We find ourselves deeply disappointed with today's Supreme Court decision to dismantle affirmative action in higher education admissions, a move which we see as a significant setback for diversity, equity, and inclusion,鈥 said 麻豆果冻 President, Dr. Stephanie Bulger. 鈥淎lthough LCC, which prides itself as an open-access institution, is not impacted the same as some of our four-year partners by today鈥檚 decision, we remain unwavering in our commitment to providing equal educational opportunities for all students. We will continue to champion diversity and inclusion within our college community and strive to create an environment that encourages the success of every student.鈥
LCC鈥檚 mission is unchanged: to provide quality, comprehensive, accessible, inclusive, learning-centered educational opportunities that promote equitable student success. LCC is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion with a racial equity lens and values the dignity and worth of all individuals, and believes opportunity and access to education transform lives.
